Trifecta for LeBron James

LeBron Raymond James has been in the spotlight almost since the day he picked up a basketball, he was a phenomenon in high school, taking Akron to its first championship ever, dunking over players like if it came naturally. He was a big man that also knew how to handle the ball; he could play almost every position on the court and made it look so easy to the rest of us. But it was not all light and glamour, the James family lived in extreme poverty, sometimes having to decide whether they paid for the light bill or the water bill, at that point James had gotten a few ill advised “friends” that started helping his family out, and he said that they never asked for anything in return, but the questioned started getting louder when James, 18 showed up to his senior year in a brand new Hummer H2, at that time a $60,000 car, but since high school was not covered by the NCAA and their strict policies on taking money, there was nothing they could do. Lakers are going to test the Thunder

The Los Angeles Lakers will meet up with the Oklahoma City Thunder in what I see as one of the most interesting matchups of the second round; forgetting the fact regarding the bad blood between the two, they have both become highly regarded in the west and I think that the Lakers feel a little insulted with all the hype that the Thunder are getting, even if they have yet to prove themselves. Another part of the story will be the return of Derek Fisher to LA, the longtime Lakers point guard and good friend to Kobe will make an emotional return to his old city and team. The #1 seed from the East has fallen…

The Philadelphia 76ers have done it, they took out the giant in the east, the team with the best overall record and that sat atop the standings to make it to the NBA Finals, but let’s not forget that Philly had a little help from the injury fairy, that took out the league’s MVP Derrick Rose in game 1 and then the Bulls lost their starting center to a foot injury in game3, so there really was not much left on an already depleted team to make it interesting. Denver came up just short

By far one of the most emotional first round series of this year’s postseason, after being up 3 games to one the Los Angeles Lakers seemed to have everything under control to finish of the Denver Nuggets but it seemed that the Nuggets themselves had a different agenda. Denver fought all the way back to even up the series at 3 games apiece, forcing a decisive game seven in LA. Ty Lawson was a huge contributor for the Nuggets, commanding the offense and pushing the ball every time he was on the court, but it was Denver’s defense that shut down both Gasol and Bynum in games 4 and 5, along with the roof raising plays from newcomer JaVale McGee. Boston routed the Hawks in game 6

This very familiar territory for both of these teams, they have met up in the first round of the playoffs 4 of the last 6 times and Boston has taken the cake every time. The Hawks have never made it an easy win for the Celtics, taking the series to 6 or 7 games each time and usually to the wire. This time was no different, game 6 was in the TD Garden and the Celtics knew that they needed to finish the Hawks off at home, because as tired as they were, to have to go back to Atlanta for a game 7 would have been a disaster. Michael Jordan is under more scrutiny now than he ever was during his entire career in the NBA, but that’s what happens when you are the greatest player ever running an NBA team. After obtaining the worst regular season record in the NBA last season, Jordan knew that something big had to be done, starting from the coach to the water boys and everything in between. Sad days to come in Orlando

If there was ever a year that the Orlando Magic fans thought they had a chance to make a big impact in the NBA post season, this was it. They had started off the year so well, making a name for themselves in the east by knocking down opponents left and right, they did have a few bumps on the road as well as the constant contract discussions regarding Howard were always a little of a distraction, but leading up to the All-Star break, which by the way was in Orlando, the Magic were feeling great. Defending Champions are out

Last season the Dallas Mavericks made it all the way to the NBA Finals, then beat the Miami Heat in 5 games to crown themselves as the best team in the league with their first franchise Championship. Beginning this last reduced season they had lost a few key players from their winning team but were sure they could me it back to the playoffs and make another run. It seemed that they played during the regular season with a bull’s eye on their backs, getting the best out of the other teams. A chance for the Spurs to sweep

This round one series between the Spurs and the Jazz has been pretty one sided since the beginning, although the Jazz have had their moments, their lack of experience is obvious and making things very difficult on the defensive side of the court, where the Parker had simply been unstoppable these last few games. But now with their backs against the wall on their home court it´s time for the Utah Jazz to make a stand and show their fans that they deserve to be in the postseason and want to make interesting; only 13% of teams down 3-0 in the first round have come back and advanced… Will the Jazz become that Cinderella team? NBA´s most Improved Player

Drafted back in 2008 with the 21st pick in the first round, the New Jersey Nets selected a 6 foot 10 inch power forward out of California named Ryan Anderson. Anderson had played 3 years of college ball and was a routine starter on the team, then, after being selected by the Nets he played his first season, appearing in 66 games and starting 29 than in 2009 he was then traded to the Orlando Magic where he would pick up his NBA career deep on the bench. That season Anderson played in 63 games but only averaged 14.5 minutes and of those 63 games, he only started 6 which really put him at a low, he would push through it and always put the team first and it got a little better in the following year, he played in 64 games and started 14 with about 22.3 minutes on average.
