2012 Fed Cup ready to roll

It is already time for the 2012 Fed Cup to get under way and roll, it will be interesting to see if the Czech Republic can stay on track from last year and defend their title with the help of the World number two player Petra Kvitova. For those who are not that into women`s tennis the Fed Cup is the same as the men`s Davis Cup, it faces up country against country with a total of four single matches being played and one doubles match at the end. Can Marquette continue their winning ways?

The Golden Eagles of Marquette look to continue their winning ways come this Monday 6th when they face their second road game in three days. It was a tough little patch that they went through when they first lost to Vanderbilt on December 29th then they also lost January 4th and January 7th, but against two ranked Big East teams so those two loses can be over looked. After those three loses in four games they have since played some nasty good basketball and that is why they have now won seven straight games which is always impressive. Duke Blue Devil`s look to keep winning

The Duke Blue Devil`s that lost to the Florida State Seminole`s seem to be no more, it looks like they have put that loss behind them and they are once again rolling and winning games without too much problems. They have now won their last three games two of which were conference play games, they first beat Maryland in Maryland with a score of 74-61, then they beat St. John`s 83-76 and probably the most impressive win came on the road against the Virginia Tech Hokies who they simply man handled with a final score of 75-60. To me that final score was a bit fake because Duke was simply in control of the game for the entire forty minutes and they probably deserved to win by twenty plus points. Mark Wilson looks to repeat magic from last year`s win

What an exciting finish to this past week`s PGA Tour event in La Jolla, California there was no way that I would have thought it was possible for there being a play off for the title. When I was sitting watching the live coverage I told myself that Kyle Stanley was simply going to cruise to victory due to the fact that he had such a nice lead coming down the stretch but boy was I mistaken. When Kyle Stanley stood on the eighteenth tee he had a three shot lead and with a par five in front of him and given his explosive length I figured he might even hit the green in two and finish with a birdie to take the title in class. Extra Sweet victory taste for Denmark

I personally paid a little attention to this year`s Men`s European Champion in Handball, now I know some of you are like handball? And yes it is a sport, but it is something that we play in Europe along with soccer too. Don`t get me wrong I love the sports that are played in the States such as American Football and Baseball, but when you grow up in Europe and especially a cold country like Denmark there is not that many different sports you can really pick up and play. I would not be surprised if most of you don`t even know what the sport of Badminton is, but hey that’s something we can play indoors no matter what the weather is outside. Rock proved too solid for Woods, can he continue his strong play

Once again Tiger Woods came up a little too short in order to win an official golf event, but it was not only his poor play Sunday that had a factor here it was also that Robert Rock just proved too solid for anyone to catch him. What surprised me even more was that Rock actually finished with a bogey on the par five last hole and yet he still won by a strike over Rory McIlroy. Tiger Woods finished tied for third at eleven under par along with Graeme McDowell and Thomas Bjorn who is the defending champion this week in Qatar. Read the rest of this entry »

The all famous Vina del Mar will host a ATP World Tour 250 Series this week and when you think of this great location in Chile the last thing that comes to one`s mind is a tennis tournament. Impressive field ready for Abu Dhabi Championship

For an event that was only founded back in 2006 it can clearly be said that this tournament is one of the strongest fields you can imagine especially considering that it is not a major championship. The neat thing about this event is that you get the best players in the World here in the United Arab Emirates because first of all they get to play an amazing golf course and second of all there is a great purse that obviously catches the attention of the players.
