NBA Week 8th Picks: La Lakers vs Miami

So the Lakers sit fairly pretty at 20-3, yet they seem to be dissatisfied with their overall play.
“Defense,” Lamar Odom said. “It’s always defense. We can play better defense. And we can’t turn it off and on. You have to play consistent.”
Odom has been asked by Lakers coach Phil Jackson to be more of a leader for the Lakers’ talented bench players, who have at times been lackadaisical this season. But Odom has been fighting a head cold in recent days and hasn’t brought great focus either.
According to The Orange County Register, Lakers co-captain Derek Fisher called a team meeting Friday—when the Lakers were 18-3—to ask for better focus and effort each game.
“Every team should be a test,” Odom said. “You can’t pick them out. We have to think about what we want to accomplish.”
Said Kobe Bryant:  “We have to focus on improving. We’re playing extremely well, and we have to focus on being better.”

College Football Bowl Picks: Las Vegas Bowl BYU vs. Arizona Las Vegas

The Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl is scheduled for December 20 at 8:00 Eastern Time. It will be televised at ESPN and also at ESPN HD. The host is the really nice Sam Boyd Stadium located of course in Las Vegas, NV.
Rivalry!!! That is a common word that we hear constantly when two teams play each other with such a huge passion and power like these two opponents. Since 1936 these two teams had meet twenty two times, but never in a bowl game. There is where the rivalry comes from. From all these games, Arizona is the one that shows the best results with 11 winnings, 9 losses and 1 push. On the other hand, BYU has three consecutive winnings in the last three bowls, and that is kind of an important signal from them. Based on these two facts, is kind of difficult to predict with accuracy a good pick for this game.
At 2006, Wildcats barely won with a field goal in the last minute and last year the Cougars won with a huge advantage in the score box. Fire and power is what we expect in this game this time.

College Football Picks: St. Petersburg Bowl Memphis vs. South Florida St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Bowl invited this time the Memphis Tigers to play against the South Florida Bulls. The game will be taking place at the Tropicana Field and the kick off time will be 3:30 CST and it will be televised by ESPN2.

A big mistake not taken in consideration is that the game was scheduled at the same time in which the Tigers basketball team will be playing in home at Memphis TN, against Syracuse. This is the main reason why everybody is not expecting the Memphis fans to show up in the game. That gives the opportunity to make a sellout from South Florida, from one side taking the advantage of the weak team followers from Memphis.

NCAA Football Picks: New Mexico Bowl Colorado State vs. Fresno State Albuquerque

Albuquerque, New Mexico will be the place in which these two teams will have a battle. Rivalry and Power will be the main idea of the show. In 2005, New Mexico hosted their first Bowl, so, with this two great teams ant the history that is behind this event, we can assure that this is going to be a Great Game.

With this game, Fresno State has in their count nine bowls in the last 12 years. We can tell that they have experience in this bowl contest. They have won four from the last five bowls and that tell us that they give everything in terms on winning a bowl.

Nothing against Colorado State, but in the last games, they have not had a big success in the defense. At least not in the last games, and even though they showed a good performance in the past, that is not good enough background to suspect they will make an invincible defense in this game. NBA Week 7th Picks: New Orleans at Boston

The Hornets were struggling with slow starts earlier in the season, but that’s no longer a problem.
They have set a season high for points in a quarter during the first quarter of each of their last two games.
They scored 35 in the first quarter of a 104-91 victory over the Suns on Wednesday and followed that with a 37-point first quarter on their way to a 106-87 victory over the Grizzlies on Saturday.
“That was the best quarter we’ve had this year,” coach Byron Scott said of the outburst against the Grizzlies. “Obviously, we’re in a rhythm offensively with the first unit.”
The Hornets are 11-6 after winning for the sixth time in seven games. Their next game is at home against Charlotte on Wednesday.
“We’re making shots and we’re getting stops on the defensive end,” point guard Chris Paul said. “It seems like when one or two guys start making shots, it becomes contagious.”

NFL Week 14th Picks: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Carolina Panthers

Now is the time for this two big football stars to debut at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers will battle for sole possession of first place in the NFC South

Both of the teams have shown really good performances during this season, but, in term of deciding who to choose to win the game becomes difficult. In one side we have experience while in the other we have power and speed. Sometimes is better to choose the older candidate. Tampa then is the option…

The Panthers show that they can beat almost any team during the whole game, but now, is the time for the coach to show up and ensure their spot for net year season. Read the rest of this entry »

NBA Week 6th Picks: Portland at Boston

Things might be a bit calmer by then, though. Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh wants the Stephon Marbury affair cleared up by Monday, which means a measure of stability might return to the New York locker room for the game against Boston.
A year ago, Portland won a pair of overtime thrillers against the Knicks, whose roster has been overhauled since then. Under new coach Mike D’Antoni, the Knicks like to run, as evidenced by their 138-125 win over Golden State on Friday.

College Football Week 15th Picks: Ball State at Buffallo

When we talk about big winner teams, of course that I think about Ball State. For sure everybody is expecting this team to win. There is no much to write about this game, because we know the result in advance. Even though the game will be played at a neutral location, I know, that does not have anything to do with the performance of this team. That happened before and it was the same. If we take the time to analyze the results of the Cardinals during this season, we can see clearly that they won every single game with a lot of advantage. In all of them they doubled the score of the opponent, except for the game against Navy in which they scored just 12 more points.
