NCAA Football Game of the Week: (4) Arizona State at (5) Oregon

arizona.jpg

This game has national title implications written all over it.  The Arizona State Sun Devils have come out of nowhere to start the season 8-0, and 5-0 in the Pac-10.  Oregon (7-1, 4-1 Pac-10) is just a couple plays away from being undefeated, stemming from a 31-24 home loss to California earlier in the year.  The winner of this game may still have a little work to do to get into the top two teams in the country and to play for a national championship, but a victory here will get them very, very close.

Arizona State is on a roll, but they have been criticized for their lack of tough opponents on their schedule.  Their best win came in their last game against California, the team that beat Oregon, but California has been on a downward spiral for the past couple of weeks, so that game doesn’t look as good as it once did.  All of their apparent tough games have been at home, but besides California, they have yet to play another top 25 team.  Now is their chance to show they are real.  To help them prove that will be outstanding quarterback Rudy Carpenter.  Carpenter 65 percent of his passes for just under 2000 yards passing this season.  He also has 17 touchdown passes on seven interceptions. His main receiving target has been Michael Jones.  Jones has five touchdowns on 26 catches this year.  They also have two very solid running backs, each averaging more than five yards per carry.  Keegan Herring has four touchdowns on 5.9 yards per carry, and Ryan Torain has five TD’s with an average of five yards per carry.

Oregon relies on the arm of Heisman candidate Dennis Dixon to do the majority of their offensive damage.  Dixon has thrown 16 touchdowns with just three interceptions.  On the season his passer rating is an astronomical 160.3.  He can also run very well, scoring eight times on the ground, while averaging 5.3 yards per carry to boot.  They also have a very good traditional running back as well by the name of Jonathan Stewart.  Stewart is averaging an amazing 6.7 yards per carry, and had scored nine times.  When Dixon is throwing he likes to pass to Jaison Williams.  Williams is averaging 16.2 yards per carry, and has found the end zone five times.

With the game being in Oregon, and the Ducks having so many weapons to choose from, it’s hard not to favor them in this contest.  But, the Sun Devils are riding an amazing streak that they haven’t rode since a quarterback by the name of Jake Plummer was at the helms.  Oregon has also already shown they are beatable at home this year, with the California loss.  With that, I don’t think Arizona State hasn’t played anyone this tough, and a beat up California team doesn’t count.  They also haven’t come close to playing anyone this tough on the road either.  I think the Ducks will derail the Arizona State train in this one by a score of 31-21, or something close to that.

NCAA Football Thursday: (11) Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech

gt.jpg

Last Thursday the Virginia Tech Hokies were leading Boston College by a score of 10-0 with just over two minutes remaining in the game.  By the time the game was over, highlighted by a Boston College touchdown with 11 seconds left, the crowd sat in silence as their Virginia Tech (6-2, 3-1 ACC) squad headed to the locker rooms as stunned 14-10 losers.  A victory against Boston College would have put the Hokies back in the title picture, instead they drop to number 11 in the country hoping to at least be able to play for an ACC championship.

For the second week in a row the Hokies will play on Thursday night, this time as the visitor.  There is still a question as to who will be quarterback come game time.  Freshman sensation Tyrod Taylor was inactive against Boston College last week, but it was a game-time decision so he will more than likely be able to return to the line up against Georgia Tech.  Taylor has been more of a threat on the ground then on the air so far, reminiscent of another young Virginia Tech quarterback a few years ago, Michael Vick.  On 55 carries, Taylor is averaging 4.5 yards per carry, and has scored three touchdowns.  Through the air he has accumulated another three touchdowns, but on just 52 percent of his passes being completed.  The Hokies main running threat is Brandon Ore.  Ore has scored five times, while picking up just over three yards per carry, a number Virginia Tech fans would love to see pick up a little down the stretch.  Ever since the shellacking at LSU the second game of the season where they gave up 48 points, the defense has been much better.  On the year they are holding opponents to just under 16 points a game.  There are 14 points they gave up last week though they would love to have back.

Georgia Tech (5-3, 2-3) will be entering this game with out their number one offensive threat, running back Tashard Choice, who left their game against Army with a knee injury.  Word is that Choice may be able to return by the end of the year, but it’s a huge blow, as Choice had been averaging over 100 yards per game this season.  Instead the Yellow Jackets will rely on a running back by committee approach with three relatively novice running backs.  Georgia Tech may have to rely more on the arm of Taylor Bennett.  Bennett has over 1300 yards passing this year, but only two touchdowns, with only three interceptions.  Georgia Tech has had a couple of tough loses this year.  In the third game of the year they last to Boston College at home, by two touchdowns, but their next two losses have been by a combined seven points.  They lost to a much improved Virginia team at home, 28-23, and dropped a heartbreaker to Maryland, at Maryland, 28-26.

This will be a tough road game for the Hokies, but they most win if they want to stay in the ACC title picture, and keep hope for an outside chance at a BCS bowl.  Virginia Tech shocked a few people earlier in the year when they handled Clemson on the road relatively easily.  With the loss of Choice for the Yellow Jackets, and the Virginia Tech defense playing pretty well I am taking the Hokies in this one.  But, Virginia Tech may still be suffering from their major let down just one week ago

NFL Monday Night Football: (3-3) Denver Broncos vs. (5-1) Green Bay Packers

The Colorado area is enjoying one its biggest sports victories since the days of John Elway. The Rockies are in the World Series, and the Broncos just beat the Pittsburgh Steelers with a Jason Elam field goal as time expired. That was a victory most NFL pundits didn’t expect the Broncos could get, much like the task the Rockies find themselves in against the Boston Red Sox.

Leading the Broncos in a fairly productive manner is quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler has been often been predicted as one of the next great quarterbacks, yet as of right now he is playing a fairly safe role as he still gets acclimated to the NFL.

This season he has thrown for seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. Despite having more interceptions then touchdowns he has a very accurate arm, completing 66.3 percent of his passes. Most of the time Cutler has been handing the ball off to Travis Henry. Henry has only scored one touchdown, but he is averaging 4.6 yards per carry, among the best in the league.

The Green Bay Packers will be coming off a bye week. They are led by the all-time touchdown, and interception leader, Brett Favre. Both of those records are expected, as his fearless attitude has allowed him to make plays hardly anyone else could, but at the same time sometimes make some bonehead decisions that have caused turnovers. Still, there is nobody else the Packers would rather have a quarterback leading this young squad into a promise land they have never seen before. Among those youngsters is running back DeShawn Wynn. After having a running back by committee approach early in the year, it appears Wynn has the position locked down, after averaging 4.1 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns in the first six games of the season. One of Favre’s veterans is receiver Donald Driver, who is enjoying a very productive year that puts him at 36 catches, 11.4 yards per catch, and two touchdowns. Green Bay has been in a bunch of close games, but if they hadn’t given up a lead to the Bears two weeks ago they could possibly be undefeated. The defense is playing better then expected, and is riding on the wings of A.J. Hawk. Hawk is a playmaker that is always close to the ball.

The Broncos are always a tough game, despite being only 3 and 3 this season. Their coaching staff always seems to make necessary adjustments as the game goes on to keep it close. Many believe that the Packers are the beneficiaries of an easy schedule up until this point, and that is the reason for the good record. The Schedule will get tougher for the Packers from here on out, starting with the Broncos. The Broncos are generally a pretty tough team to play at home, and are playing well as the victory at Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, would tell us. With that, I think the Packers have just the right combination of offensive firepower and defense to slow down Denver in this one. I can’t imagine this one being anything like a close game, something the Packers are used to. In a fairly low scoring affair, I take the Packers 17-14.

NCAA Football Saturday Game of the Week: (12) USC vs. (5) Oregon

Just a few games ago, people thought it would be the University of Southern California preparing to play for the national title.  But, after USC (6-1, 3-1 Pac-10) lost to Stanford, 40 point underdogs, at home, USC saw them drop from the top of the rankings all the way to the middle of the pack.  Because so many top ranked teams have been unable to win consistently USC has made it back up to 12th, with an outside shot to still play in a major bowl, but probably not the championship.

Oregon (6-1, 3-1 Pac-10) on the other hand has been one of the biggest surprised up until this point.  There one loss came to Pac-10 foe California, 31-24.  At the time California was making a run for a national championship, but they have since lost two games.  Oregon has one of the most potent offenses in the country, averaging 46.6 points per game.  They have been led by Dennis Dixon, one of the top quarterbacks in the country.  He has over 1700 yards passing with 16 touchdowns.  On the ground he is averaging 5.6 yards per carry and has scored an additional seven touchdowns.  Also doing damage on the ground is running back Jonathan Stewart.  On 131 carries this year he is averaging an amazing 7.2 yards.  He has scored 7 touchdowns is on pace to rush for close to 1500 yards for the season.

This is one of USC’s biggest games in a long time.  A victory here shows they are still an elite team, and the Stanford game was just a fluke.  Their quarterback situation is unknown at this time.  John David Booty had been playing fairly well, passing for 12 touchdowns and over 1200 yards, but he is suffering from a hand injury.  In his place has been Mark Sanchez.  In just his second start Sanchez led USC past rival Notre Dame by throwing for four touchdowns and 238 yards.  Notre Dame isn’t nearly what they once were, but it was still a good sign for Trojan fans to see they have two viable quarterback options.  USC has also been called “Running back U.,” as of late because of the number of quality runners they have on the team.  Doing the most damage this year has been Chauncey Washington.  In 96 carries he has four touchdowns and averaging nearly four and a half yards per carry.

The Trojans don’t appear to be what they once were.  Not including the Stanford loss, they have been in a lot of close games against teams they would have normally blown out.  They might just be a little too young yet.  Oregon seems to be hitting their stride, and at home they are one of the toughest schools to beat in the nation.  Because of the home field advantage, and their offensive proficiency I am taking the Ducks in this one.  The final score may be something around 37-24.

NCAA Thursday Night Football: (2) Boston College at (8) Virginia Tech

After suffering through the dramatic events of April, the start of the football season was a nice change of pace, and a distraction, that students could focus their attention on as best as they could.  While football will never make up for the lives lost, it does provide some comfort because football in the area of Blacksburg, VA is pretty much a family event.  The Hokies opened the season with a 17-7 win over East Carolina at home before traveling to Baton Rouge to take on LSU.  That visit was a bit of a humbling experience, losing 48-7, for Virginia Tech, but since then they have reeled off five straight wins heading into their biggest conference game of the season.  After the LSU lost Virginia Tech found themselves near the bottom of the top 25 rankings, but with the odd nature of this season, and top teams losing nearly every week, the Hokies are back in the top ten with a chance to play in a bowl championship series game, maybe even the national title.

The one positive thing that came out of the loss to LSU was we got to see redshirt freshman quarterback Tyrod Taylor.  At only 18 years old he is already making big noise, as sort of a Michael Vick type player.  Taylor is doing damage on both the ground and in the air.  On foot he is averaging 4.3 yards per carry and has scored twice.  Through the air he has passed for 640 yards and three touchdowns.  Last week though, against Duke, Taylor went down with an ankle injury, and in his place, former starter Sean Glennon played well.  The ankle injury is expected to be recovered almost completely by Thursday’s big game, but if need be Glennon will start.

Boston College is currently in position to play for the championship.  They are led by their Heisman trophy candidate Matt Ryan.  Ryan has passed for over 2100 yards and 17 touchdowns.  His two main targets, Brandon Robinson and Rich Gunnell each have 30 catches on the season.  Robinson has caught four TD passes, while Gunnell has three scores.  They also have a nice duo of runners.  Andre Callender has done the majority of the work, averaging 4.9 yards per carry on 128 carries and eight touchdowns, but L.V. Whitworth is also averaging 4.9 yards per carry and has scored three touchdowns on just 58 carries.

Virginia Tech is geared up for this one.  A victory here can mean a top five rankings, and a very good shot at the ACC championship game.  The LSU game might have been a bit early for the young Tech defense, but since then they have played well.  Boston College has played like a team on a mission, and it’s my guess that there mission will continue with a narrow victory at Virginia Tech on Thursday.

2007-2008 NBA Season Preview

As the weather starts to cool, the sporting world will heat up as another NBA season begins.  Each year a new team arises, and a new star appears, that changes the landscape of basketball forever.  This past off-season was filled with enough news to fill up 1,000 newspapers, some of it good, some of it bad, and some of it skepticism about a new season.  Below are some of the biggest stories of the summer, what could possibly expect to come out of them.

Boston Celtics pick up all-stars Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.  Does that equal a championship?

Boston area sports fans are rejoicing.  They have the best team in the NFL, a team that is trying to make a return to the World Series, and a new basketball team they can be proud of.  Longtime Celtics star Paul Pierce has longed to have some backup, and his dreams have come true.  After years of trade rumors, Kevin Garnett moves from the cold of Minnesota to the cold of Boston, but with dreams of that long awaited NBA ring.  They also added one of the most prolific shooters in NBA history, Ray Allen.  Allen, much like, Garnett is starting to get up in age a bit, and also hopes for an NBA title before hanging up his sneakers.  “The Big Three,” as they have been dubbed by the media, appears to have the best chance to take the Celtics to the top of the heap, after spending a few seasons near the bottom of the east standings.  Despite all the good news there are concerns that all these scorers won’t be able to share the ball.  Food for thought: In the history of the NBA no team has won a title that had three 20 point per game players on their team.  Last year all three of the above mentioned players scored over 20 points.  I believe this is a problem Boston fans are willing to deal with though.

Can the San Antonio Spurs win their fourth title in six years?

The San Antonio Spurs are in the mist of one of the best dynasties in NBA history.  What makes the Spurs different is that they lack any players that are seen on the gossip pages as much as they are on the sports pages.  The Lakers had the Kobe and Shaq feud, and the Bulls had perhaps the best player in the history of the game, Michael Jordan.  This isn’t to say that the Spurs don’t have superstars; they just go about their business in a quieter manner.  Tim Duncan is potentially the best all-around player in the game.  He rebounds, plays defense, and shoots with a wonderful touch.  Tony Parker, this years NBA playoffs MVP, has really learned how to control a game exactly the way he wants it.  You would be hard pressed to find another player that can be so unselfish, but at the same time still do all the things to help you win ballgames.  Also, Manu Ginobili continues to be one of the best guards.  His flair for big time plays has made him one of the most exciting players to watch.  The Spurs have returned nearly their entire team, including Brent Barry, and Mr. Playoffs, Robert Horry.  The West is filled with exciting teams, like the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and the Phoenix Suns, who are looking to take over the Spurs in the west.

Which rookie will make the biggest impact?

One player that will not be making an impact, at least this year, is the Portland Trailblazer’s Greg Oden.  Oden had to get a season ending knee surgery after what he thought would be a minor surgery.  It’s a shame, because Portland was expecting a turnaround this year, but instead may have to wait at least another year.  One rookie that is looking to already make a big impact is Seattle’s Kevin Durrant.  Durrant has already shown some explosive moves in the preseason.  He has also shown that the three point line being moved back in the NBA isn’t too much of a problem either, and he has knocked down a few trays as well this preseason.  Other stars to keep an eye on are a pair of rookies from the NCAA champion Florida Gators.  Al Horford (Atlanta), Corey Brewer (Minnesota), and Joakim Noah (Chicago) will all be lacing up their sneakers for the first time as NBA balers after finding a ton of success in the college ranks.  If they can bring that success to their respective teams, then the NBA should be very competitive this year.

This is just a touch of what to expect in the upcoming NBA season.  The NBA Season starts October 30th, with a match-up between the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trailblazers.  Make sure to be there for all of the action

Monday Night Football: Indianapolis Colts (5-0) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-1)

It’s not often that the best game of the week is on Monday, but this is the case here. The undefeated Indianapolis Colts look to keep their perfect record intact as they travel to Jacksonville to take on the surprising one loss Jaguars. The Colts are actually being overlooked because of the dominating start from there arch rivals the New England Patriots, yet all they continue to do is win. If you are just becoming a football fan now you would think the road to the Super Bowl goes through New England, but that isn’t the case. The Colts are the defending Super Bowl champions, and they seem more then willing to challenge anyone who is looking to take away that title from them.

The Colts are still led by Peyton Manning and still have one of the best offenses in the league, putting up 164 points through five games. Manning is completing just fewer than 70 percent of his passes. He has passed for 10 touchdowns while throwing only two interceptions. In the process he has also only been sacked two times, not bad for a quarterback who is considered immobile. It also proves his offensive line has been doing a more than adequate job. Running back Joseph Addai is also enjoying a full-time starter. He is averaging 4.8 yards per carry on his 84 rushing attempts on the season. He has also found the end zone five times. A nice surprise has been back up running back Kenton Keith, who is averaging five yards per carry on 51 rushes, while scoring twice. Reggie Wayne has been the main passing target. He is averaging 13.2 yards per catch, and has found the end zone four times. Tight end Dallas Clark has scored five times.

The Jaguars rank up there among the teams you didn’t expect to see with only one loss this season. Quarterback David Gerrard has done a great job leading this team, making very few mistakes along the way. While only passing for just over 1,000 yards and six touchdowns, he has zero interceptions to this point. The running back by committee approach is also working for the Jaguars. Maurice Jones-Drew, one of the biggest surprises last year, is starting to heat up. On the season he is averaging 5.7 yards per carry, and has found the end zone three times. The often injured Fred Taylor is looking healthier by the week, and is averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Even though he hasn’t found the end zone yet he is a welcome to this team when ever he can play. Defensively the team has also improved. Not one player really stands out, as they use a team approach to defense. Five players on the team already have more than 20 tackles, leading the way is Sammy Knight with 36.

The Colts are a three point favorite heading into this one. While Indianapolis doesn’t seem as prolific as the Patriots up until this point, they still are finding ways to win, and usually comfortably. There are concerns about their defense, but just like last year they seem to be making big plays when it counts. The Jaguars might have enough to neutralize the Colts offense for a half, but I think they will stall a little after that. I think the Colts will be able to win this one by a touchdown or more.

NCAA Football Saturday Game of the Week: Kentucky Wildcats vs. Florida Gators

It seems that every game, every week, in the SEC is a big game. With the possibility of three or four teams still competing for a national championship it makes just about every game compelling. Nothing changes here, as Kentucky (6-1, 2-1 SEC), fresh off their win over the former number one team in the nation LSU takes on last year’s champion the Florida Gators (4-2, 2-2).

The Florida Gators are most likely the best two loss team in the country. If they were to be in another conference they’d most likely be near the top of the rankings. The Gators loss to Auburn for the second year in a row, then lost a tight game to LSU, when LSU you ranked number one in the nation. Despite the losses, the Gators still have one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, Tim Tebow. Tebow has completed 65.5 percent of his passes, while racking up 13 touchdowns on just three interceptions. On the ground he has ran for 500 yards, including nine touchdowns, making him one of the biggest dual threats to come to college football in a long time. His main receiving target is Percy Harvin. Harvin has caught 32 balls, for three touchdowns, while averaging 16 yards per catch. When Tebow isn’t running the ball he is handing off to running back Kesthan Moore, who is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and has found the end zone three times.

If it weren’t for South Florida, Kentucky might be the most shocking story in the season. Kentucky is coming off a victory over number one LSU, and has to be able to forget about that and play the Gators, in Florida. The man who will help them take on their task is their superstar quarterback Andre’ Woodson. Woodson has already passed for 21 touchdowns, and has shown he will never fold under pressure. After being behind most of the game against LSU he was able to keep his team focused and pull off an unthinkable win. In that triple overtime victory Woodson threw for three touchdowns and ran for one more. Keenan Burton and Dickie Lyons have each caught over 30 balls for a combined eight touchdowns.

Because of this game being in Kentucky they Wildcats are a favorite, but I I think I’m going to favor the Gators in an upset victory. The Gators are still young, and this season will clearly be a stepping stone to greater things, but I think they have enough to pull this one out. If someone tells you they can predict outcomes of games at a high clip this season I would ask to check their credentials. I think the Gators are due to win one of these close games, and the Wildcats have some problems with South Carolina’s defense (their only loss). I’m thinking of a score of something like 34-27 Gators, as they once again most likely get themselves back into the top ten.

NCAA Thursday Night Football: South Florida vs. Rutgers

With the losses of LSU and California this past Saturday, formally the number one and number two in the rankings, South Florida (6-0, 1-0 Big East) finds themselves ranked number two in the nation.  At this point in the season it was originally believed it would be the Rutgers (4-2, 1-1 Big East) that would be in this position, but a couple of early season losses saw them drop out of the rankings completely.

Early season Heisman trophy candidate Ray Rice is still having a good year despite the two losses.  Rice is averaging five yards per carry and has found the end zone an impressive 13 times in just six games.  On the year he has run for 818 yards, well over 100 yards per game.  Junior quarterback Mike Teel is quietly having a good season.  He has passed for 1817 yards on 12 touchdowns with six interceptions.  The concern with Teel is that the interceptions have came in big games, where they went on to lose.  In the Cincinnati loss he did pass for over 300 yards, which he has done in four of the six games, but he failed to record a touchdown and threw for three interceptions.  Teel will get a chance to redeem himself, because right after playing the number two team in the country, they turn around and play the number nine ranked West Virginia Mountaineers.  Teel’s two favorite targets have been Tiquan Underwood and Kenny Britt.  Combined they are averaging over 20 yards per catch and have each scored four touchdowns.  When the Scarlett Knights win, they have been dominating, scoring 20 more points per game then their opponents.  Their losses to Maryland and Cincinnati cane by 10 and five points.

The biggest surprise of the year to this point has been the fact that the Bulls are now in a position to head to the national championship if they are able to win out the rest of the way.  Much of that success can be attributed to quarterback Matt Grothe who is doing it on the ground as well as through the air.  Grothe has passed for over 1,100 yards and has seven touchdowns.  On foot he is averaging 4.3 yards per carry and has found the end zone an additional four times.  His main receiving threats are Taurus Johnson and Amarri Jackson.  They have each caught two balls for touchdowns, and are averaging just about 12 yards per catch each.  The Bulls have outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points per game, and may have put on their best scoring performance this past week when they put up 64 against a decent Central Florida team.

If the Rutgers would like to get back into the national spotlight a victory here, at home would do it.  The Rutgers haven’t played bad this year, they have just failed to live up to the hype they set up for themselves with their Cinderella performance last year.  This year we appear to have a new Cinderella in the form of South Florida.  I expect the Rutgers to play tough, being they are at home, but they have already lost at home once this year to Maryland.  USF looks to have too many weapons, and they can move the ball equally on both the ground and in the air.  The Rutgers offense isn’t that bad though, and could score an upset here and it would be a huge surprise, not during this season anyway.  I’m going to go with the favorite, in a tight game, 38-35.

NFL Monday Night Football: New York Giants (3-2) vs. Atlanta Falcons (1-4)

When the Monday Night Football schedule was first made I’m sure this looked like an attractive game. The Atlanta Falcons would have Michael Vick and be playing in front of an electric crowd and would surely have more than one win. But, unless you’ve been stuck under a rock for the past couple of months you would no that Vick is not playing, and the Falcons do only have one win.

If you are a Giants fan you are confident coming into this game. The boys in blue have won three in a row after dropping their first two. They have also made sure to squeeze as much drama as possible out of it. In two out of their last three games, against the Redskins (week 3) and the Jets this past week they were down by double digits entering the second half and in both cases found a way to win. Quarterback Eli Manning has also seemed like two different players depending on the half, usually looking like a Pro Bowler in the second half. Manning has Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress to thank for most of his success. Burress has caught nearly every ball thrown in his direction. Against New York he caught five passes for 124 yards and one touchdown. To this point he has been the most important player in the Giants offense. Also, the return of Brandon Jacobs from injury has been a nice boost for the Giants. Jacobs returned against the Jets, running for 100 yards on 20 carries, for a solid average of five yards per carry. He also added a touchdown.

A week after Joey Harrington appeared to be turning a corner and showing he can be a productive quarterback he was benched for Byron Leftwich. Leftwich was respectable, but while driving with the game on the line he threw in interception that was returned for a 76-yard touchdown by Vincent Fuller of the Tennessee Titans. The Falcons haven’t have had a few chances to win a few more games. After a 24-3 loss in the opening game of the season, they haven’t lost any of there other games by more than seven points. In the game they won, two weeks ago, they beat the Houston Texans 26-16, sort of a shocker in itself. Yet, as mentioned one week later they were back in the losing column. Prior to being benched Harrington was completing over 71 percent of his passes and the duo of Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood have been somewhat respectful running the ball, averaging close to four yards a carry between the two. Receiver Roddy White has been a welcome addition as well. He had 55 yards on three catches in the Titans loss.

The Falcons have had their best game at home, and the Giants, while on a streak have continually found themselves having to come from behind to win. I don’t expect the Giants to have to comeback from behind in this one, winning a low scoring affair by something like 20 to 10. The quarterback situation is a mess in Atlanta, no matter who they start on Monday.
