Rijkaard and Eto’o settled their issues

Samuel Eto’o

Rijkaard and the Catalan team director decided to discuss the recent events, which included the Cameroun forward’s refusal to play and statements against Rijkaard and Ronaldinho, over a meeting. They decided to cool things down.

They both appeared before the meeting to pose their versions on the events, they intended to end the argue and finally reached a positive conclusion: Rijkaard assured that the team handled this issue perfectly, and that the current situation will have “a positive reaction upon the group, which will work harder.” Additionally, Bergiristain said Rijkaard is all mighty inside the dressing room, and Eto’o won’t be penalized at his will.

In addition to this, the Dutch coach made it clear that his relationship to the Cameroun “won’t change” and pointed out that he wanted to “congratulate the team and the captain.” Afterwards, Charles Puyol appeared before the press to attest to the good relation between them.

According to Barcelona’s coach, the root of the problem lies in the “lack of communication” between them, and said he hoped “this won’t happen again.” He also begged for the audience to understand “Samuel’s personal situation, his long-lasting injury and his desire to play” with the team.

In spite of having settled their dispute, Rijkaard hasn’t unveiled his plans regarding the Cameroun presence at the next game against Valencia. “We still have a long way of training, and we’ll see as days go by.”
