Battle of two Hurting Teams… Kansas City Chiefs vs. Chicago Bears The Kansas City Chiefs have had more than a difficult season, losing key players at the beginning of the season as set them back and created sense of failure within the team. Traveling this week to Soldier Field, one of the most difficult places to play, they will take on the Chicago Bears, who are going through their own issues, having just lost their starting QB Jay Cutler to a broken thumb. |

The last time these two teams squared off was back in 2006, when the Chiefs made the same journey but ended up losing 20 to 10, one of the largest issues that the Chiefs are having is a large amount of dropped balls and now they will have to work with a new QB, after losing Matt Cassel to a season ending injury, Kansas City decided to pick up Kyle Orton from the Denver Broncos off waiver. Being giving the opportunity to win the starting QB position, is exactly what Orton has been waiting for, with things not going his way in Denver, he his being given a new chance to shine with a good team. In need of leadership and guidance, the Chiefs are already looking to forget 2011 and come back strong in the 2012 season. Before getting hurt QB Matt Cassel had thrown for 1713 yards on just under a 60 percent completion ratio with 10 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Back up running back Jackie Battle is doing what he can, the rookie has carried the ball 104 times for 456 yards and 1 TD while pro bowler Dwayne Bowe has caught 5 passes for 819 yards and 4 trips to the end zone. The Chicago Bears or their part on very much in the race for a playoff spot, but losing their starting quarterback has presented a new challenge for the Bears. New QB Caleb Hanie had 254 yards last Sunday against the Raiders on 18 of 36 passes; he also had 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in that game. Matt Forte, the starting running back will really need to step up his game is they are going to have any chances of winning more football games, he has carried the ball 198 times for 985 yards and has found the end zone 3 times. Johnny Knox leads the team in receptions, with 28 catches for 622 yards he has scored twice. Chicago will need a big spark from their secret weapon, Devon Hester, the one person that can come in and change the face of the game in no more than 30 seconds, he hold the NFL record for most punt, kickoffs, and missed field goals returned for touchdowns with 3 on the year with a long of 98 yards. Kansas City has had glimpses on good play, such as the Sunday night game against San Diego and their last game against Pittsburgh, even though they lost that game, they played very good defense. Their offense will be called upon in this game against the hard hitting defense of the Bears, if the Chiefs can keep it close they have a chance in this one, getting a few picks and closing out the run will help give them the opportunities they will need on offense to score. The Bears are 7 point favorites and if the Steelers couldn’t do it, I don’t see the Bears having any better luck. THEDUCK |
