West Virginia look to seal their place tied atop of the Big East

Thursday night at 8pm Eastern Time we will have the Big East Clash of West Virginia against the South Florida Bulls a game that might decide who gets the BCS bowl berth from the Big East and also the outcome of the Conference.

The game will be played at the Raymond James Stadium and for both teams it is their last regular season game of 2011.

For the South Florida Bulls it has been a more than disappointing season and they know that they won`t be getting any invites to play any bowl game so they will want to try their hardest to walk away with a win at home.

The game will be shown on ESPN and it will have the number twenty-three West Virginia Mountaineers take on the South Florida Bulls whom are not ranked.

For The Mountaineers who are 8-3 for the season and 4-2 in Big-East conference play this game is a must win, the thing is that if West Virginia wins and then Cincinnati wins on Saturday against Uconn then there will be a three way tie at the top of the Big-East and that would give West Virginia the BCS Bowl game.

Right now it is Louisville that is sitting at the top with a record of 5-2 in conference play and they are already done with their season.

Now here is the interesting part if West Virginia wins Thursday and Cincinnati fails to win on Saturday, then there will be a two way tie for the top and then Louisville will become the victors since they beat West Virginia earlier this year.

So for the Mountaineers they are in control of their own destiny and I can honestly say that I am shocked to see that they are only a one point favorite against a South Florida team that is 5-6 for the season and a terrible 1-5 in conference play.

The only reason why I can see the lie being so low on the Mountaineers is due to the fact that they are playing in South Florida and second of all South Florida wants to end their season on a positive note with a win and plus they would love nothing more than to strip the Mountaineers of any hopes of getting a bid.

Still after considering all the facts I would have to say that the play here would have to be West Virginia -1.
