What better place than home to take a big step in what could mean the chance to play for the BCS Championship? That’s what should be taking place on each and every one of the fans, players and staff of the Oklahoma State Cowboys (tied at first place with Kansas State on the Big 12, and ranked #3 nationwide) when they come back home after two vibrant games at Texas and Missouri last two weeks. But it won’t be easy, because they face the Baylor Bears, a team that without being ranked among the top 25 teams has performed quite well marching at the middle of the Big 12 Conference.

The Bears are ranked 2nd on the total offenses around the country and they have built a very compact team that delivers important numbers both on the rushing and the passing game every week, but they need a little more work on the defense, where they have just not found the right scheme to keep their opponents away from the endzone.

Offensively, their top performer is definitely quarterback Robert Griffin III with 1950 passing yards and 22 touchdowns so far, also rushing for 295 yards and 2 touchdowns, but most of his production through the air is due to the great job of Kendall Wright, who has 757 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns this season. And the third piece of Baylor’s offense is Terrance Ganaway with 570 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. Looking at these three guys’ numbers, their powerful offense ranked 2nd proves to be not a coincidence at all.

The Cowboys, are having their best year ever, finally looking at a chance to play for the BCS Championship this season. They have performed way above the expectations and they will have to keep on going the same way they’ve being playing.

Most of their outstanding performance relays on a three way offensive trident, with Brandon Weeden (2436 passing yards and 19 touchdowns) on the head, backed up by Joseph Randle (690 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns) and Justin Blackmon (662 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns), making their offense completely unpredictable. But one of the best offenses around the league will be nothing without a strong defense, and here the Cowboys have improved a lot compared to past seasons, pushing heavily their opponents.

Baylor averages 549.7 total yards per game (ranked 2nd overall), 44.3 scored points and 32.7 allowed while Oklahoma State has an average of 548.6 total yards per game (ranked 3rd overall), with 48.6 points per game and 26.9 against. The line for the game has the Cowboys favorite by two touchdowns with a total of 79½. I will go with the Cowboys here to win the game but take them teased if you can because the Bears will sure be a though victim to defeat, Oklahoma State’s momentum right now is just great and what better place than home to keep their road to the BCS Championship going?
